Sony DADC in Brasil
The first plant in Brazil was opened in 1979, in Rio de Janeiro/RJ, by CBS Records which was bought by Sony Group in 1988, and Sony Group acquired that company’s manufacturing facilities, some of which later became part of Sony DADC and the plant was responsible to provide manufacturing and printing services for tapes and LP’s, and its CD production started in 1992.
In 1998, the unit located in Rio de Janeiro was transferred to the “Polo Industrial de Manaus”, where the plants for the Manufacturing and Distribution of music and video products were established. In 2005 the Company was renamed to Sony DADC.
From 2013 to 2014, new Manufacturing and Distribution plants were opened in the city of Manaus, by employing the best references from the headquarters in Terre Haute (USA) and by expanding is capability of production, inbound delivery, storage, and shipment of materials.
Today, new plants have an output capacity of over 7 million discs a month for medias such as CD’s, DVD’s, and Blu-ray.
The first automated Distribution Center in Brazil, having 14,000 m2, offers a mix of services raging from storage and stock management capability of over 28 million product units, special handling, picking, sorting, and distribution of over 2 million of products a month to over 6 thousand POS located across the country.
Having ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications, Sony DADC was the first company in this segment in Brazil to get certification from the CDSA international organization against piracy, thus guaranteeing security and quality to the manufacturing process, apart from the protection of the product against the pirate market.
Sony DADC in Brasil has a complete structure for meeting the internal market needs from A to Z, ranging from customer service for the development of new products, to pre-production and study steps, up to the operationalization of manufacturing, distribution, reverse logistics, and after sales across the territory. Currently, its operations are also prepared for the expansion of exportation and distribution services to all Latin America.
