Since 1982, regarding the development of CD format for music in partnership with Philips, Sony is the leader in optic media for disc formats. By following this tradition, Sony has also made a significant contribution to the creation of the Blu-ray format, specially developed to meet the ongoing demand for movies and contents in high definition. Blu-ray format delivers unmatched image and audio if compared to DVD, thus bringing to your home the experience that is offered on the movie theaters.
Phase Transition Technology for Mastering:
Due to its five-fold greater capacity as opposed to DVD’s, the Blu-ray format requires much smaller micro-cups in the disc. Therefore, the current technology for the mastering of DVD is not compatible with Blu-ray discs. Sony’s Phase Transition Mastering (PTM) innovative technology allows really fine micro-cups because it employs a heat chemical reaction by blue laser. The PTM and the PTR-3000 systems have brought significant reliability coupled with operation reduced cost, thus shortening the mastering process from 11 to 5 steps.
PID Technology (Postscribed ID™):
PID is an exclusive technology that corresponds to the imprint of a singular identification (ID) on the surface of a CD or a DVD-ROM after the disc stamping industrial process. This technology allows for a single and innovative marketing solution that connects the off-line digital media directly to specific sites on the Internet.
